GILAS New York Tri-State Team Leadership

Established in 2000, Ayala Foundation USA is a public charity registered with the United States Internal Revenue Service as a 501© 3 tax-exempt organization. As the bridge between US-based Filipino individuals and communities, and Philippine-based social development institutions, AF-USA becomes a mechanism by which donations and other forms of support can reach intended beneficiaries in the Philippines.

AF-USA is governed by a Board of Trustees: Dado Banatao – Chair, Fernando Zobel de Ayala - Vice Chair, Denny Roja – Treasurer, Michael Balaoing – Secretary, President – Vicky Garchitorena and Trustees Maria Banatao, Sherri Burke, Gloria Caoile, Eddie Flores, Joe Lumarda, Greg Macabenta, Ofelia Maristela, Sally Munoz, Loida Nicolas Lewis, Rudy Quiambao and Alex Yap. 

From its inception, AF-USA was chaired by no less than Fernando Zobel de Ayala, President of Ayala Corporation, one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines. He is the seventh generation of the family to manage the company which has clearly earned the trust and confidence of its partners, suppliers and customers. This in turn has led to its continued success for the past 173 years. This year, he has passed on the chairmanship to Dado Banatao, highly successful techno-preneur in Silicon Valley in California.

Both President of Ayala Foundation-USA and Ayala Foundation Inc., Vicky Garchitorena is considered as one of the pillars of Philippine non-government organization sector. She was founding Chair of the League of Corporate Foundations, Philippine Council for NGO Certification, Philippine Association for Volunteer Efforts, Metro South Cooperative Bank, and the Makati NGO Network. She is/has been Chair or Trustee of the following: Pinoy ME, Ramon Magsaysay Awards Foundation, EDSA People Power Commission, AIM Alumni Association, Mendiola Consortium, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, College of the Holy Spirit, Corporate Network for Disaster Response, Spirit of EDSA Foundation, Alliance of Women for Action Towards Reform, among others. She is also Managing Director of Ayala Corporation's Stakeholder Relations.  

New York based Trustee Loida Nicolas Lewis is Chairman and CEO of TLC Beatrice International Holdings, Inc., a multinational food company with sales in 1995 of $2.1 billion. She assumed leadership from her late husband in 1994. Born and raised in the Philippines, Loida was the first Asian woman to pass the New York State bar exam without having studied law in the U.S. She served as General Attorney with the INS from 1979 until 1990 and has written three books on U.S. immigration law. Loida is also one of the founders of the Asian-American Legal Defense and Education Fund, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and also serves on the board of the national Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship.

Also from New York, Rudy Quiambao is the founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rudell & Associates, Inc. A registered engineer, Rudy has over 30 years of extensive experience in various disciplines of engineering, design, construction supervision and project management. Prior to establishing Rudell & Associates, Inc., Rudy has worked for many years as a consultant at Con Edison Company of New York's Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant. At present, Rudell & Associates, Inc. is continuously selected as the top minority vendor at Con Edison Company of New York for engineering & design services. Rudy has also worked for over 13 years at Treadwell Corporation as a Civil/Mechanical Engineering Specialist. Rudy has also worked for Treadwell Corporation, Chemplant Design, Inc., Cahn Engineers in New Haven, Connecticut and Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington.
