Yonkers Millenium Lions Club Donate

The Yonkers Millennium Lions Club recently presented $1000 donation to the Ayala Foundation USA for the GILAS Project. The funds were raised by the Lions Club to be used towards building a PC Lab and Internet Connection at the Tipas National High School in San Juan, Batangas, in the Philippines. Macrina De los Reyes Labitigan (Immediate Past President), Teresita Angos, and Ramon P. Labitigan (Past President) of the Yonkers Millennium Lions Club handed over the check to Vicky Garchitorena, President of Ayala Foundation USA and Ayala Foundation Inc. and Leo Legaspi, GILAS New York Tri-State Team Coordinator. Rowena Alday Garcia, President of the San Juan Batangas USA Association, and Ner Garcia of the SJBUSAA, represented the people of San Juan, Batangas.

According to Past President Macrina Labitagan, this is the second time the Yonkers Millennium Lions Club, provided donations to the GILAS Project of Ayala Foundation, Inc. The first one was through the Philippine Consulate in NY under Lion Past President Emma Dumalag’s term.

“The Yonkers Millennium Lions Club is fully supportive of the GILAS Project because we believe it has a great impact in providing quality education in the Philippines through unlimited access to global information, thereby tapping the students’ imagination and potentials,” said Macrina Labitigan. “Prior to the Internet Age, students do research through the school libraries and/or encyclopedias. By providing Internet access to students in the remote areas, they have the information in their fingertips…the global library is within their reach!”
