The first Asian woman admitted to the partner ranks of the then Big 8 accounting and consulting firms in the US, Aurora Rubin is a partner of Deloitte & Touche. In the past decade, she has been on secondment to the firm’s global organization, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, where she has held various leadership roles. Today, Aurora is the Global Chief Ethics Officer and Deputy to the Global Managing Partner of Regulatory & Risk.
Aurora has had a variety of professional experiences that uniquely position her for her current roles. Aside from handling a diverse client portfolio, she had been the Global Director of Auditing Services, Global Managing Partner of Risk, the US firm’s National Director of Professional Development, and National Technical Consultation Partner. In the latter role, Aurora was a key member of the supervising team that had conducted firm-on-firm peer reviews in the US.
Aurora obtained her audit field experience in the New York office of Deloitte & Touche, but she was introduced to the profession at SGV & Co., the largest professional services firm in the Philippines where she was born and raised. In 2001, Aurora was recognized as an outstanding alumna of the University of the Philippines, where she had obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, cum laude.
Aurora and Mel (a native New Yorker and Deloitte alumnus) are the proud parents of Joanna (JD and MBA candidate, Northwestern University Class of 2009; Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude, Boston College Class of 2001) and Paul (Bachelor of Arts candidate, Boston College Class of 2008).
Aurora has served on the Board of Trustees of several not-for-profit organizations, including The Center for Asian Pacific American Women (formerly known as the Asian Pacific American Women’s Leadership Institute), the Alliance for Children & Families, and the Council on Accreditation, as well as a member of the Finance Committee of the United Ways of Tri-State. She is also on the Advisory Board of the International Society of Young Filipino Accountants. |
